I spent the New Year's Eve at Hangdian | Our international and Chinese students celebrate the "Chinese New Year" in various styles

As the Spring Festival of the Snake Year approaches, many students at Hangzhou Dianzi University still choose to stay on campus to celebrate the holiday.

With the Spring Festival drawing near, the festive atmosphere at Hangzhou Dianzi University grows stronger.

On the afternoon of January 23, the second floor of the apartment canteen in District G was decorated with lights and banners. The Spring Festival Garden Party for both Chinese and international students of our school was held there. The Vice Party Secretary of our school, Qian Bo, the Vice President, Li Wenjun, and relevant heads of departments such as the Student Affairs Department, Graduate Student Affairs Department, and the School of International Education gathered with the students who stayed on campus, celebrating the Spring Festival together

.

Vice Principal Li Wenjun extended warm greetings and good wishes to everyone. He said that the Spring Festival is not only a time to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new, and to reunite families, but also carries the ideas of peace, harmony, and unity, and embodies people's yearning for a better life. The school has organized various forms of New Year celebrations to allow everyone to fully feel the warmth of "(home)" and the atmosphere of "(year)". Wishing everyone a memorable Spring Festival and new progress, new gains, and new improvements in the new year.

By 3 pm in the afternoon, the second floor of the cafeteria was bustling with people. Every stall was adorned with "the festive attire." Activities such as ring-tossing, writing auspicious characters, paper-cutting, making lanterns, and wrapping dumplings, all rich in traditional folk customs, attracted enthusiastic participation from both Chinese and foreign teachers and students. International students truly felt the warmth of Chinese friendship and Hangdian's care through the process of making, interacting, and playing. The Moroccan Jinsa, while "boasting" about the small gifts she received, happily said, "I've heard that the Chinese New Year is very lively, but I haven't seen it before. Today is my first time participating in such an activity, and it's so interesting!" The Kazakhstani Mulie happily said, "Today I wrote a 'fu' character and also cut some window flowers. I think it's especially interesting for so many Chinese and foreign students to gather together to celebrate the New Year, and it has also allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese traditional culture and a deeper feeling for China."

The talent show segment featured international students performing a variety of colorful programs, including melodious Chinese songs and vibrant ethnic dances, showcasing the charm of multiculturalism. The performance was full of excitement, earning rounds of applause.

Foreign and Chinese teachers and students gathered around to eat dumplings, chat about daily life, watch performances, sing and dance together, and sing a song "Happy New Year," creating a festive atmosphere on the scene. Students who stayed on campus expressed that they have gained a more direct, comprehensive, and in-depth understanding of the Spring Festival culture. Fang Jun, a Bangladeshi international student, said, "I have been studying and living in China for 5 years, and this time, experiencing the rich Chinese New Year atmosphere firsthand, I feel very close and warm." Sabah, a Pakistani international student, said, "I am very willing to bring my family and more friends to China to understand the Spring Festival and explore the unique and charming folk culture."

The event ended amidst laughter and joy. This Spring Festival, the international and Chinese students left in school gathered together, joyfully celebrating the New Year and enhancing their friendship.

Wishing everyone a happy Spring Festival and all the best!
